Day Three: Be Specific with Jesus

“What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” Mark 10:51 NIV
Picture this. Blind Bartimaeus is shouting for Jesus on the side of the road & Bartimaeus actually gets Jesus’ attention. Jesus stops. He calls him forward. And then something powerful—and honestly, kind of surprising—happens. Jesus asks him a question:
“What do you want Me to do for you?” Mark 10:51 (NIV)
I must say this seems a little ridiculous doesn't. Why would Jesus ask a blind man what he wants? Jesus knows the man is blind. We all obviously know what he needs right? So why ask the question? Because Jesus wants to know what you want.
This is the power of specific prayer. It's not that Jesus doesn’t know—He does. But breakthrough prayer doesn’t stay general. It doesn’t beat around the bush. Breakthrough prayer is bold enough to say, “Jesus, here’s exactly what I need.”
Let’s be real—some of us pray beautiful words but never actually ask anything. You’ve got the right tone. You’ve got the all names of God down. You have all the right Scripture references. But if Jesus were to interrupt your prayer and say, “What are you actually asking Me to do?”… could you answer?
There are quite a few reasons why we don't ask. Sometimes we dance around the request because we’re scared to say it. We’re scared He won’t do it. We’re scared we’ll be disappointed. Other times we may not even know where to begin. But nonetheless, Jesus invites us to get specific. Why? Because specific prayers build faith. And specific answers build specific testimonies. I've heard it said & I agree, Jesus doesn't answer vague prayers.
What Do You Want?
If Jesus asked you right now—like He asked Bartimaeus—“What do you want Me to do for you?” What would you say? Say it. Ask it. Be bold . Get clear.
Let us pray...
Fill in the blank:“Jesus, I want You to _______________________.” Jesus is listening. Be specific!
